My Approach
- I have twenty-five years of figure skating experience in the amateur and professional circuit as well as ten years of coaching experience.
-
My coaching techniques are based on the Principles of Biomechanics and the Laws of Physics i.e. to follow the course of natural movement to reach the expected result.
- I emphasise technical perfection in the performance of field move exercises, spins and jumps.
- I am constantly adjusting my coaching methods based on observation, current trends and competition demands.
- Creativity is an important factor in the process of coaching. Every couple of months I change field move exercises to keep lessons captivating and interesting. In this regard I am constantly challenging my skaters to move to the next level of difficulty.
- Choreography. Once a skater has acquired sufficient skills, the process of choreographing a routine to music can begin. With the right music and choreography the enjoyment of gliding on the ice begins to unfold.
- Personal involvement and interest in coaching at all levels. Coaching all levels of skating creates a wide basis of knowledge; a sort of database that can be used in sharing knowledge and problem solving while coaching competitive skaters
- Collaboration with different coaches in planning, consulting and executing creates an exceptional high standard of coaching
